Harum Scarum is a standard CD, presented in a 7" format cover (like a single or EP) with original back and front cover art, 3 panel Gatefold sleeve, 8 page booklet with photos and memorabilia, original album with original album EQ and with both previously released and previously unreleased outtakes. A must have CD for all fans and collectors.
In Harum Scarum Elvis Presley plays Johnny Tyronne, a matinee idol on a good will tour in the middle east. Elvis soon becomes involved with kidnappers, assassins and a beautiful damsel in distress (Mary Ann Mobley). Amongst a predictable plot of boy saves girl; are nine songs featuring 'Kismet', 'Golden Coins' and 'Harem Holiday'. Cast includes Elvis Presley, Michael Ansara, Fran Jeffreys and Jay Novello.
Harum Scarum is a soundtrack you either love or loathe! The fact that FTD have done nothing to improve the terrible sounding Masters is a real disappointment and leaving out 'So Close, Yet So Far Tk.4 (from C. Gold) was also an oversight. The booklet is as excellent as ever, and with the outtakes running nearly twice as long as the original LP, if you like the sound of exotic eastern Elvis you will enjoy this CD.
